A Lincoln Mural to behold in Springfield

In the middle of downtown Springfield, Illinois there is a beautiful mural of young Abraham Lincoln painted on the side of a building:

IMG_0139I just wanted to thank the artist Mr. Mayosky for his wonderful portrayal of Lincoln. He appears strong and vital-as he most certainly was in his youth.  He is standing among trees-giving the sense of the pioneer days of the era. The painting is featured on the side of the Alamo restaurant-which faces Jefferson Street. I asked a passerby about the artist. He stated that the gentleman lives in Springfield and that he has painted other things in the local area. That’s about all he knew. Anyway, my AbesBlogCabin.org hat is off to you sir. Your work is certainly appreciated. If you’re reading this, Any chance of coming to Detroit?

  1. I know this artist personally, he actually does some work in Michigan but in Grand Rapids. BTW, this place is just a bar now and the owners aren’t too great (he had problems with them while painting the mural) so I wouldn’t recommend going in there. It is a beautiful mural though.
