    The story behind the Anthony Frudakis stataue of Lincoln is entitled ‘The Weight of the World”. The story behind the statue is interesting. The pose is based on comments by the artist Francis Bicknell Carpenter who lived at the White House for about 6 months. Carpenter wrote that he often saw Lincoln standing with his hands behind his back, as the artist has posed Lincoln in this work, and he seemed to be”carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

    There are several other statues on this campus of historical figures by Frudakis.
