Abraham Lincoln continues to take over my house!

Looking around my home, it’s not difficult to see what my passion is . Lincoln is everywhere.  I have things stored away that I haven’t looked at in some time. No, I’m not a hoarder-well, maybe I am a little bit. So, let me see, what can I pull out to photograph and post on this blog today? There are a few things…

I love the wood box (see above). It’s probably from the 1930’s or 40’s. As noted on the box itself-it was used to ship the 6 volume Carl Sandburg set Abraham Lincoln (Sangamon Edition). It looks great sitting up on one of my book cases. Here’s something else:

I think I’m starting to become a “Lincoln” bottle collector! I own several now. The bottle pictured above is unusual-at least- I hadn’t seen one until this bottle came along. As you can see, it features a beardless Abraham Lincoln. I like the marketing phrase too: “Honesty is the keynote in our daily products and our business.”  Hence, the image of “honest Abe.”  The bottle came originally from the Chewton Dairy in Wampum, PA. .

And then there is this item:

The “Lincoln stone” is very special to me. It was made as a gift to the “Lincolnman.” I won’t divulge the identity of the artist/giver but it stands as a treasure in my collection.

And so there are a few things from the “Lincoln museum” in my home-always growing. I wonder where it will all end up after I’m gone? My guess is that they will make it to other homes and continue to delight others through the years. If that happens, my work, time, and effort was well-spent.
