For the love of Marx

Marx Blue & Gray soldiers

It seems folks of my generation (the baby boomers) can’t forget our toys. I still have my Marx Civil War soldiers. A few years ago, I carefully placed them up in clear Ziploc ¬†bags to preserve and protect them. As a kid, I spent countless hours (mostly on the carpet of our living room) engaging in battles with the Blue & Gray. There was never a favorite winner, by the way. I remember being embarrassed at age fifteen when my friend came over (my mom must have let him in)- to find me playing with them. I don’t think I brought them out again for years- until I had sons of my own. Then I had a great reason to introduce them to the soldiers. I even was purchasing Marx soldiers at antique stores and when the time came- Ebay. Speaking of Ebay- the cup pictured above was purchased on Ebay. The featured art is like what was found on the cardboard box of the Marx playset. Apparently, the Ebay seller also has the “bug.” I guess it’s hard to forget one’s toys. I know I never did.
