Lincoln, the master of presidential humor?
Abraham Lincoln knew his jokes. He was witty and clever in his stories. Sometimes he was the only one laughing after he told a joke or story (I hate when that happens to me!). Here is another example of his great sense of humor:
A Post Office official had died. An interested applicant for the vacant position met President Lincoln in the White House with hope of being selected. Said he:
“Mr. President, did you know that the Chief Postal Inspector just died. Can I take his place?”
“Well,” answered Lincoln, ”it’s all right with me if it’s all right with the undertaker.”
