January 24, 2013 was the night of our annual Installation of Officers for Camp 2 (General Israel B. Richardson Camp), Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War,  Department of Michigan.  Our Camp was honored to have the Department  of Michigan Commander, Paul Arnold, administering the Installation. As a special bonus, President Lincoln stopped by and gave an address. Well, it wasn’t quite the president-it was Fred Priebe-known in the “Lincoln-world” as a truly outstanding Lincoln presenter.  Because of the 150th anniversary of the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation this month, Priebe gave a speech entitled: “Why did he wait so long?” The speech gave the history of the “road” to the Emancipation Proclamation and what were the factor’s in Lincoln’s timing for it. Priebe used almost exclusively Lincoln’s actual words in his argument.  Needless to say, it was outstanding. Here is a link to Fred Priebe’s website: http://alincolnstyle.com/index.html
