Update on the Lincoln Tomb Theft

His sword is returned!

Some time ago I reported on this blog that a sword from one of the soldier statues atop the Lincoln Tomb had been stolen. Good news! According to the March/April 2012 edition of the History Magazine, the  sword has been recovered. It was returned to the Illinois  Historic Preservation Agency following the apprehension of the “culprit.” The individual caught is a 16 year old male who, apparently, admitted to police that he had intended on trying to sell the metal sword to a scrap yard. The same sword was previously stolen more than 100 years ago. At any rate, Abesblogcabin rejoices in this current good news and salutes all those who were part of it’s finding. Great job!
